My New Hobby – Watercolors

Hello Friends

On this lazy day in Semarang, Java, Indonesia, I’ve decided to skip a shore excursion to share with you the joys and frustrations of my new hobby – Water Coloring.

My Egyptian, ex-classmate Sonia, gave me a set of watercolor paints, a few brushes and an introduction to seeing the world around me from an artist’s perspective. She reintroduced color concepts as well as some techniques for depicting our world using water colors. Unfortunately, Sonia left the ship unexpectedly leaving me to continue my art education by You Tube videos.

My latest attempt to depict the original scene is shown above and a couple of my early attempts to do so are show below. As you can see, I have a long ways to go and progress is slow, but it is fun and exciting to spend time learning the art.
